Certified Green Professional™

The Certified Green Professional™ (CGP) is an exclusive designation offered by the National Association of Home Builders to recognize building and remodeling professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes using cost-effective and affordable options. As a CGP, Andy Willhoit has been trained to consider each project using the “whole house approach”, which considers the clients specific needs, along with a multitude of building systems, local climate conditions, and other environmental criteria to ensure that their home becomes more energy-efficient, comfortable, safer and more sustainable. Current trends show that homebuyers increasingly prefer homes with such sustainable features and benefits. Incorporating green building methods and using a Certified Green Professional™ will go along way in creating these benefits, while reducing utility costs and increasing the resale value of your home.

Even prior to receiving the CGP designation, Andy has been quietly incorporating sustainable methods into all of his remodel and home construction projects - well before green awareness became mainstream with the public. From reducing and diverting construction waste via careful sorting and recycling, using recycled and sustainable materials, salvaging materials and fixtures to be donated to charity, and properly storing and disposing HHW, Andy has always viewed these practices as being the “right thing to do”.

Andy's commitment to resource conservation and preservation extends even beyond serving his clients with home improvement services. For more than ten years he has manufactured and sold a proprietary line of spray bottles, U-Mix-It Safe Spray®, which are imprinted with easy-to-mix homemade recipes for Household Cleaning, Garden Pest Control, and Veggie/Produce Wash. He has been providing these earth-friendly products to online consumers, retail businesses, non-profit environmental groups, and municipalities all across the country. The spray bottles have become one of the most popular education and outreach products used by environmental programs to encourage and facilitate behavioral change.

Andy has also been instrumental in local conservation efforts. He was the first General Contractor to join the City of Chico's Clean Water Business Partner Program, and is the creator and designer behind the city's “Chico Clean Creeks Calendar”, first published in 2008. The calendar has been a huge success in helping to raise awareness about urban stormwater runoff, and providing tips and resources to help Chico residents prevent pollution to our local creeks.
